The Gelderland Biennial 2019, organized by Stichting Plaatsmaken, invited me to make a work in public space, in the city centre of Arnhem. I decided to build a big wooden bird of prey, as it marked the part of the city bombed in the second World War, by an American bomber, exactly 75 years earlier on the day of the opening. At present the fifties architecture, that replaced the bombed quarter, has fallen prey to project developers. The bird witnessed all that. I could not have done this without the help of Iwan Boverhof and the Monlyt-team.
